TEDS All Day Brunch is a breakfast and lunch room with locations in The Hague, Amsterdam and Utrecht. Read on for my experience at TEDS The Hague.
TEDS All Day Brunch
The concept
TEDS owner Sanne Huisman decided in 2015 to open her own business “TEDS All Day Brunch” in Amsterdam. The reason for this was that she had experienced “frustration” as a customer that many catering establishments in the Netherlands still think in boxes. Think of breakfast until 11.00, from 12.00 – 14.00 lunch and after 17.00 dinner. Today, however, we live in a society where the emphasis is on individuality. Each individual adjusts his / her consumption pattern to the way of his / her life.
For example, a place where you can order curly fries in the morning from your French Toast (French toast) or poached eggs with avocado in the afternoon. That did not yet exist in Amsterdam, but this changed in 2015 when TEDS opened its doors for brunch. TEDS responds to the individual wishes and needs of the guests by putting together a menu that can be used all day. Other catering establishments quickly followed TEDS’s example when its concept proved to be successful.
TEDS menu consists of a large selection of favorites from owner Sanne. In addition to the extensive range of food, TEDS also serves a variety of coffees, quality wines, cocktails, mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktail) and of course bubbles & champagne for the ultimate weekend feeling.
The meaning behind the name TEDS
The owner Sanne has named her first store TEDS after her dearest French Bulldog Ted. The name TEDS is short, playful and easy to remember. When TEDS opened, the idea was that Sanne would take her dog to the shop every day until she noticed that her dog was becoming too adventurous. If he had the chance, he went on a voyage of discovery through the neighborhood. This turned out not to be very convenient for Sanne, so she finally decided to leave him at home. The pictures of Ted and his style can still be found in every case.
Multiple locations
TEDS branches are located in beautiful, characteristic locations in Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague. Each Teds has its own look and style in terms of design. This was done by the owner, Sanne, the same way she would decorate her own house. Modern, cozy and yet evokes a homely atmosphere. A place where people would feel at home.
The first branch of TEDS on Bosboom Touissantstraat 60 in Amsterdam was a success quite quickly. This was followed by locations at Utrecht on Light Gaard 8 and The Hague on Frederikstraat 32.
The branches are open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except in The Hague from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The owner Sanne manages the locations together with the location managers. The ambition is to expand the formula to other large cities in the Netherlands.
TEDS The Hague
In 2018, The Hague became a hotspot with TEDS at Frederikstraat 32. Since the opening of the branch, it has also become a success in The Hague. The owner chose a branch in The Hague because of the international character of The Hague where many expats live.
The expats know the concept of brunch because they have experienced this elsewhere abroad where brunch is standard. The word brunch, from English, is composed of breakfast (breakfast) and lunch. A combination of a late breakfast and early afternoon meal.
I have tried a number of items from the menu. They were all delicious but my favorites are Fruity French Toast and poached egg with salmon and avocado. The service was very friendly. It is a place where it is nicely decorated, modern and homely. Further in the back of the room they have arranged a special corner that reminds me of a stylish jungle effect. This is a place I would like to come back to.
I want to thank the owner Sanne van Teds for the invitation.
