The Begin

Sofia D. Sözen is the owner of + Factory Girl. It started with a short vacation in Berlin, after which she decided to open her first shop + Factory girl in Berlin in 2010.

Why the name +Factory Girl?

The name “+ Factory Girl” stands for “girls who are always busy producing, making and creating,” says the owner Sofia. She therefore sees herself as a real + Factory Girl. The plus sign in the name stands for the simple expandability of the concept. That is what Sofia Sözens company is all about: the concept (healthy breakfast and lunch all day long with many vegan and gluten-free options). And with its concept this would be easy to expand in major European cities. As a result, she started her second business in Amsterdam this year.

+Factory Girl in Amsterdam

During her very short stay in Amsterdam, she fell in love with the city. She therefore decided to open her second shop in Amsterdam in March 2019. However, her concept appeals to the public. Since then, her business has been visited very well. Her business is decorated in an industrial style because her business must look like a factory. It therefore radiates hip and trendy. On invitation I was introduced to + Factory Girl concept and her well-known Coco Anjéla.

Coco Anjéla

The owner Sofia has specially devised a Coco Anjéla dessert for + Factory Girl. This is an addictively tasty dessert that people come back for specially. You can see it as a kind of panna cotta and this is available in different flavors. Coco Anjéla is fortunately also available at + Factory Girl in Amsterdam. Coco Anjéla uses cream that is based on vegan milk. Although Coco Anjéla contains vegan and vegetable cream, this unique, healthy and delicious treat is a vegetarian dessert.

Coco Anjéla costs € 6 for one type and € 9 for a tasting. I have taken a tasting of 6 flavors. It also tastes really like panna cotta and wonderfully creamy. My favorite flavors are with bananas and with lemon.

Lunch

+ Factory Girl has an extensive menu with many vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. You can choose from various items such as bruschettas, sandwiches, salads, pancakes, egg meals and more. We decided to choose a tasting of various items and we found them delicious.

Looking back

Because + Factory Girl’s has opted for industrial style as an interior, it therefore exudes hip and trendy. What I found very positive is that + Factory Girl has an extensive menu card with many vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. And the concept is of course great to be able to order breakfast and lunch all day long. There is an open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work. The food was freshly made and delicious. Their specialty Coco Anjéla was delicious. + Factory Girl is clearly recommended. Be sure to pay a visit if you are in Amsterdam or live there.
