Short, sparse lashes and serious lash envy? I know the feeling. If you’re thinking about getting eyelash extensions, read my honest story first — about allergies, a bad DIY removal, and finally finding the eyelash extensions that actually work for me.
When Eyelash Extensions Went Wrong
When I first had eyelash extensions done, it was with a newly graduated beauty specialist. I got her name from an acquaintance who was satisfied with her work. On their recommendation, I made an appointment with newly graduated beauty specialist A. She had her own workspace in a garden shed at her parents’ home. I had one-on-one eyelash extensions done by her and the lashes looked nice afterwards. Later that evening, my eyes began to get irritated and looked red. My eyes started tearing and that lasted for half an hour. The next day, my eyes teared up several times a day and eventually that happened every day. It turned out that I was allergic to both the eyelash extensions themselves and the glue. This was my unfortunate experience with eyelash extensions.
Going Bigger: Russian 3D Lashes
After 2 years, I dared to try eyelash extensions again but this time I would ask if the eyelash extensions and glue were hypoallergenic. I didn’t want to experience what happened the first time again. I got the address of another beauty specialist from a girlfriend who had good experience with the eyelash extensions from beauty specialist B. This time it wasn’t one lash on lash extension but extremely long and full Russian 3D lashes. I thought they looked beautiful and sexy. The eyelash extensions felt heavy but I was willing to accept that. I felt confident and sexy with the eyelash extensions. With these eyelash extensions, I had no trouble with daily tearing eyes. After 2 weeks of enjoying them, the eyelash extensions started to come loose and hang in certain places. So I had to have the eyelash extensions replaced.
My Biggest Lash Mistake
After my second replacement of eyelash extensions, I decided to have my makeup done for a party. I had special shampoo for eyelash extensions but I couldn’t get the black eyeliner line above my lashes off. After a few days, my eyes became irritated from the makeup and eyelash extensions. They didn’t feel nice anymore because of the hard glue bits. In frustration, I started pulling them out one by one. Not a smart move, of course, because they looked very damaged, extremely short, and there were missing lashes.
The Game Changer: Misencil
Still, I wanted to get eyelash extensions again and got acquainted with Misencil eyelash extensions.
The eyelash extensions felt silky and completely different from the hard eyelash extensions I had. The quality of Misencil eyelash extensions is said to be the best in the world and that’s what I want. I was able to have my eyelash extensions applied at the Misencil Academy in Rotterdam.
They are the only distributor of Misencil products. Additionally, they offer training to Misencil Salons at their Misencil academy. Initially, they were shocked by the condition of my lashes. My lashes were very damaged, short, sparse, and there were missing lashes in certain places. They decided that I would get an eyelash extension set for damaged lashes. They didn’t want to go with full and long eyelash extensions to avoid overloading my lashes. In places where there were no lashes, they couldn’t apply eyelash extensions. I told them about my glue allergy and they explained that once you have it, it never goes away. They use hypoallergenic glue that is medically approved. After discussing all this with me, the treatment could begin.
The treatment
First, my lashes were degreased with a special Misencil shampoo based on Swiss green apple stem cell technology also called ‘Pomodermie’.
This nanotechnology promotes the growth of the cell structure of both natural lashes and skin. After my lashes were degreased and dried, eye pads were placed above my eyelids and under my lashes.
Then the lashes were applied one by one with eyelash extensions. Places where there are no lashes, they cannot apply eyelash extensions and they won’t glue them to the skin.
In the meantime, I also received a treatment for my lips aimed at achieving volume, hydration, and care benefits.
Once all the eyelash extensions were applied, I received an anti-aging wrinkle cream around my eyes and it was massaged with a device so the anti-aging wrinkle cream could penetrate well. Then I received a nanomist treatment.
This meant that I had to keep my eyes closed so it could be sprayed on my lashes to allow the glue scent to evaporate and neutralize any irritation. After a few minutes, I could open my eyes and view the results. My lashes didn’t look full but they did look long and somewhat sparse in places. The eyelash extensions looked natural. It was as if I didn’t have eyelash extensions, they felt so light and I appreciated that. I had no trouble with tearing eyes and didn’t in the days that followed either. The treatment for my lips also did my lips good. No more dry lips. What’s also nice is that Misencil eyelash glue dries in 2 hours instead of 2 days as is the case with other beauty specialists. And no hard glue bits.
I can genuinely recommend Misencil eyelash extensions; my lashes finally felt beautiful again and still totally comfortable. Have you ever had a bad experience with eyelash extensions, or maybe tried Misencil yourself? I’d love to hear your story in the comments!
