In september 2018 had ik tot mijn verrassing en blijdschap een overnachting gewonnen bij het Indigo hotel via de foodbloggerstour ( https://marilynamaterasu.com/2019/02/04/hotspot-tips-in-den-haag-the-hague/ ) in Den Haag dat georganiseerd is door Anne Marie van https://www.myhappykitchen.nl/Anne Marie en Marjolein van https://www.foodieshavearrived.com/. Wil je weten hoe ik de overnachting bij het Indigo hotel heb ervaren? Lees dan verder.

Voordat ik iets vertel over mijn eigen ervaring bij het Indigo hotel, vertel ik eerst over het Indigo hotel zelf om een impressie te geven daarover. Informatie is verkregen vanuit het Indigo hotel management tijdens de rondleiding door het gebouw.

Het Indigo hotel

Het behouden van historische elementen en het door voeren ervan  in het interieurdesign van het gebouw

Het is gevestigd in het karakteristieke monumentale gebouw uit 1884 waar voorheen de Nederlandsche Bank had gezeten.  

Het Indigo hotel is een  luxe boutique hotel gelegen in het midden van het centrum tegenover het Noordeinde paleis. Daarnaast behoort het tot de Intercontinentale Hotels Group en is het eerste Indigo hotel in Nederland.  Bij de verandering van het Indigo hotel hebben ze met respect voor het verleden zoveel mogelijk historische elementen behouden. Een van de elementen is de indrukwekkend reusachtige kluis in de kelder bij de Gold bar.  Dit heeft een belangrijke rol gespeeld in het ontwerpen van multifunctionele kluizen in elke kamer. Gasten moeten aan het wiel draaien om het te openen. De kluis bevat een kleine kluis om waardevolle spullen op te bergen, een minibar, koffie- en theefaciliteiten en opslagruimte. Het artwork is veelal geïnspireerd op munten en bankbiljetten.  

3 kamertypes

Hotel Indigo heeft 63 kamers met 3 kamertypes. Elke type hotelkamer heeft zijn eigen kenmerken in kleuren, sfeer en materialen.  De Royal Residence-kamers hebben uitzicht op het paleis en hebben glas in lood ramen, hoge plafonds en originele lambrisering. Het kleurenpalet wordt gevormd door donkerrood en blauwgrijs in combinatie met satijn en warme velvets. De Court Capital-kamers geven het gevoel van rijkdom met gebruik van leer en een kleurenpalet van groentinten. Op de bovenste verdieping van het pand bevinden zich de meer eigentijdse the Lofty Living kamers. Hier worden de oude originele balken en schuine plafonds gecombineerd met betonnen vloeren en glazen wanden.

De Gold bar

In de kelder is er een Gold bar, geïnspireerd op speakeasy (fluisterbar).

Een van oorsprong Amerikaanse aanduiding voor de illegale gelegenheden die vanwege de drooglegging van alcoholische dranken  tussen 1920 en 1930 populair waren. De speakeasy’s werden van alcohol voorzien door een illegaal circuit van bootleggers (dranksmokkelaars) en hadden daardoor vaak banden met de georganiseerde misdaad.

Bij binnenkomst van de Gold bar werden we verwelkomd met een glas cocktail en een heerlijk hapje. Ruimte met aan de muren ingelijste foto’s van mensen die in de jaren negentig daar waren geweest.

De oude originele grote kluis

Daar kunnen de bezoekers vanuit de lobby de oude originele grote kluis van het gebouw bewonderen en daarachter bevindt zich ook een meeting room “the Vault”. Het is bijzonder om in zo’n ruimte te staan waar vroeger een groot deel van de goudvoorraad in de grote kluis opgestapeld lag. Nu ligt er een grote kleed met allerlei elementen van guldenbiljetten.

Mijn eigen ervaring

Ik had al eerder verteld dat ik een gratis overnachting voor 2 personen bij het Indigo hotel had gewonnen. Wat ik niet wist is dat ik op dezelfde dag van de foodbloggerstour de overnachting moest doen. Ik kon dit ook niet weten want vanuit het Indigo hotel waren ze vergeten om dat aan me door te geven. Gelukkig was het Indigo hotel daar flexibel in en mocht ik het op een andere dag mijn overnachting doen.

The lofty Living kamer

Toen de dag was aangekomen voor mijn gewonnen overnachting, kregen we een Lofty Living kamer toegewezen. De oude originele balken met schuine plafond gecombineerd met betonnen vloer en glazen wand. Slippers en kamerjassen lagen daar klaar voor ons. Badkamer was luxe ingericht. Er was jammer genoeg geen badkuip maar een douchecabine met douchekop en regendouche. Het laatste geval was echt een ultieme douche sensatie en ik kan daar echt lang van genieten. Er stond ook een kluis en we moeten aan het wiel draaien om het te kunnen openen. Dit vonden we zo leuk dat we dit vaak deden. In de kluis was er een minikluis voor het opbergen van waardevolle spullen. Er was een minibar met 2 flessen mineraal water. Er was een waterkoker met theezakjes etc. We zetten de waterkoker aan. In de tussentijd gingen we telefonisch bestelling plaatsen bij 24 uurs-roomservice. Het werd pasta bolognese met als dessert tiramisu. Ze stonden vrij snel voor onze deur met onze bestelling. Het eten heeft ons goed gesmaakt samen met een kop thee. Vanuit het kleine raam konden we schuin tegenover het paleis Noordeinde zien. We hadden in de kamer goed wifi bereik. De matras van de bed was nog hard. Dit betekent dat er nog weinig mensen op de bed hebben geslapen wat wel fijn was.

De brasserie Stocks en Bonds

Voordat we gingen ontbijten, ging ik nog snel een regendouche nemen. Daarna richting de brasserie Stocks en Bonds behorend bij het Indigo hotel waar het luxe uitgebreide ontbijtbuffet staat.

We konden ook a la carte bestellen. Als het om eten gaat dan ben ik echt in mijn nopjes en bestelde zoveel ik kon eten. Het was zo lekker.

We hebben echt genoten van onze complete overnachting bij het indigo hotel. Het was een geweldige ervaring. Dank jullie wel Indigo hotel en ik wil ook Anne Marie en Marjolein bedanken.

The Indigo hotel

Before I tell you about my own experience at the Indigo hotel, I first tell you about the Indigo hotel itself to give an impression about it. Information was obtained from the Indigo hotel management during the tour of the building.

The Indigo hotel

The preservation of historical elements and their implementation in the interior design of the building

It is located in the characteristic monumental building from 1884 where the Dutch Bank had previously been. The Indigo hotel is a luxury boutique hotel located in the middle of the center opposite the Noordeinde palace. It is also part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group and is the first Indigo hotel in the Netherlands. With the change of the Indigo hotel, they have retained as many historical elements as possible with respect for the past. One of the elements is the impressive huge safe in the cellar at the Gold bar. This has played an important role in the design of multifunctional safes in every room. Guests must turn the wheel to open it. The safe contains a small safe to store valuables, a minibar, coffee and tea making facilities and storage space. The artwork is mostly inspired by coins and banknotes.

3 Room types

Hotel Indigo has 63 rooms with 3 room types. Each type of hotel room has its own characteristics in colors, atmosphere and materials. The Royal Residence rooms have views of the palace and have stained glass windows, high ceilings and original paneling. The color palette is formed by dark red and blue gray in combination with satin and warm velvets. The Court Capital rooms give the feeling of richness with the use of leather and a color palette of green tints. On the top floor of the building you will find the more contemporary Lofty Living rooms. Here the old original beams and sloped ceilings are combined with concrete floors and glass walls.

The Gold Bar

In the basement there is a Gold bar, inspired by speakeasy (whisper bar). Originally American designation for the illegal occasions that were popular between 1920 and 1930 because of the drainage of alcoholic beverages. The speakeasies were supplied with alcohol by an illegal circuit of bootleggers (liquor smugglers) and therefore often had links with organized crime. Upon entering the Gold bar we were welcomed with a glass of cocktail and a delicious snack. Space with pictures framed on the walls of people who had been there in the nineties.

The old original large safe

Visitors can admire the old original large locker from the lobby from the lobby and behind them a meeting room called “the Vault”. It is special to be in such a space where in former days a large part of the gold supply was stored in the large safe. Now there is a large dress with all kinds of guilder banknotes.

My own experience

I had said before that I had won a free night for 2 people at the Indigo hotel. What I did not know is that I had to spend the night on the same day of the food blogger tour. I also could not know this because from the Indigo hotel they forgot to pass it on to me. Fortunately, the Indigo hotel was flexible and I was allowed to stay overnight on another day.

The Lofty Living room

When the day had arrived for my free night, we were assigned a Lofty Living room. The old original beams with slanted ceiling combined with concrete floor and glass wall. Slippers and dressing gowns were there ready for us. Bathroom was luxuriously decorated. There was unfortunately no bathtub but a shower cabin with shower head and rain shower. The latter case was really an ultimate shower sensation and I can really enjoy it for a long time. There was also a safe and we have to turn the wheel to open it. We liked this so much that we often did this. In the safe there was a mini safe for storing valuables. There was a minibar with 2 bottles of mineral water. There was a kettle with tea bags etc. We put the kettle on. In the meantime, we placed telephone orders with 24-hour room service. It became pasta bolognese with tiramisu as dessert. They were quickly in front of our door with our order. The food tasted good with a cup of tea. From the small window we could see diagonally across from the Noordeinde Palace. We had good wifi in the room. The mattress of the bed was still hard. This means that few people have slept on the bed which was nice.

The brasserie Stocks and Bonds

Before we went to breakfast, I quickly took a rain shower. Then towards the brasserie Stocks and Bonds belonging to the Indigo hotel where the luxurious breakfast buffet is located. We could also order a la carte. When it comes to food, I’m really in the mood and ordered as much as I could eat. It was so good.

We really enjoyed our complete overnight stay at the indigo hotel. It was a great experience. Thank you Indigo hotel and I also want to thank Anne Marie and Marjolein.
